The Auburn University Career Center hosted 200 students, supervisors and special guests recently at the Student Employment Awards , which culminated National Student Employment Week. The Career Center encouraged Auburn University faculty and staff as well as Auburn and Opelika area businesses to celebrate student employee contributions by nominating exceptional workers for recognition. Additionally, student employees were given an opportunity to nominate outstanding supervisors who have provided leadership and demonstrated commitment to student employment. Of the 75 nominees, four individuals were selected for divisional awards. Award winners include are Amrut Sadachar, Supervisor of the Year; Peter Sousa, Student-Supervisor of the Year; Lana Watson, Off-Campus Student Employee of the Year; and Kelsey Halla, On-Campus Student Employee of the Year.

Student employment offers students career-enhancing opportunities, the ability to develop transferable skills, better preparation for the job market upon graduation and the opportunity to earn income for their education. Student employees perform invaluable services to Auburn University, local businesses and the community.
