The Auburn University Pharmaceutical Care Center, or AUPCC, is recruiting university employees and their spouses to participate in in the Healthy Tigers Screening Program about prediabetes and diabetes prevention.

Participants who are interested in learning more about their personal risk for developing Type 2 diabetes and do not regularly participate in the Healthy Tigers Biometric Screening Program are eligible. Adults aged 19 and older without a diagnosis of diabetes who are non-pregnant are eligible.

The purpose of this research study is to determine the effectiveness of screening for prediabetes through an employer-based screening program and the impact of a 6-month medically approved diet and exercise program proven to decrease the risk for developing Type 2 diabetes. Benefits include weight loss, improved muscular and cardiovascular fitness, improved dietary habits, access to services provided by pharmacists, a dietician, exercise specialists and improved health markers such as blood sugar measures, blood pressure and body composition. No medications will be given.

Participants will be entered into a drawing to receive one of 20 $10 gift cards to Starbucks or Chick-fil-A.
