AU Libraries has gained access to Naxos Music Library World, a streaming database of world music and sounds.

The database provides music, both historical and contemporary, from more than 1,500 cultural groups. It also contains the complete Smithsonian Folkways catalog which includes traditional, ethnic and contemporary music from around the world; poetry, spoken word and instructional recordings in numerous languages; and documentary recordings of individuals, communities, current events and natural sounds.

As an early proponent of the American folk music revival, Folkways recordings include historic recordings of artists such as Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger and Leadbelly. Non-musical albums from Folkways include such disparate recordings as testimony from the Watergate hearings, Yiddish poetry, sounds from the Peruvian rain forest and the sounds of steam locomotives. All Smithsonian Folkways recordings include extensive documentation.
