As the 100th anniversary of the United States’ entry into World War I approaches, Auburn University Libraries is hosting the timely lecture, "Mass Death and the Emotional History of the First World War" by the endowed chair in military history at The Ohio State University, Bruno Cabanes. The lecture will take place Wednesday, March 22 at 3 p.m. in the Caroline Marshall Draughon Auditorium on the ground floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.

As a military historian, Cabanes is researching Auburn’s Eugene Sledge papers housed at the AU Libraries’ Special Collections and Archives Department. His lecture at Auburn will focus on portions of his 2016 book “August 1914: France, the Great War, and a Month That Changed the World Forever.”

The program is open to the public and a reception will follow the lecture.
