Notice body

Multiple choice tests are commonly used in the classroom and the resulting grades often factor into student’s final grades. Because these tests are so important, it’s important to know the best practices for improving multiple choice tests. In this session, hosted by the Biggio Center and facilitated by the Office of Academic Assessment, we will introduce the concepts of measurement theory, reliability and validity. Testing Services will give tips on constructing test questions and how to interpret the data.

As a result of participating in this professional development seminar, participants will be able to articulate general concepts within measurement theory, such as reliability and validity; apply best practices to creating effective multiple choice tests; and adapt test items based on item information provided by testing services.

The workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 12-1 p.m. in 246 Foy Hall. Registration is available online.
