The Provost’s Inclusion and Diversity Lecture Series will continue Friday, Dec. 2 with Jonathan Alger, president of James Madison University. The session, “Access, Inclusion, and Diversity from a President’s View,” will be from 9-10:30 a.m. in 2222/2223 Student Center. A second session, “Defining and Pursuing Diversity: The Evolving Legal and Policy Landscape in Higher Education,” will be from 1-2:30 p.m. in 2222/2223 Student Center.

As President of James Madison University, Jonathan Alger serves as the university’s chief executive officer and supports the development and provision of high-quality academic and student life programs. His experience includes serving as assistant general counsel at the University of Michigan, counsel for the American Association of University Professors, and attorney-advisor in the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights. Alger’s leadership in two landmark Supreme Court cases on diversity and admissions has enabled him to become a national leader in building and sustaining diversity initiatives and programs in higher education.

The lecture series from the provost is designed to provide greater insight and understanding to issues of inclusion and diversity on Auburn’s campus. Speakers include national thought-leaders, academicians, researchers, faculty, staff and community leaders.
