An employee benefits fair was held Wednesday in conjunction with this year's open enrollment period. For those who missed the fair, open enrollment will continue until Nov. 30 at 4:45 p.m.

Auburn University employees who attended this week’s benefits fair received valuable information ranging from wellness tips to financial advice, along with free items from many of the participating vendors.

More than 400 people attended this year’s event, which is organized by Human Resources and Campus Recreation. Fourteen vendors shared information and resources on the benefits that are offered to University employees and their families, such as health insurance, life insurance, and retirement planning.

Once again, the event included an emphasis on healthy living. Many attendees learned about the programs and services offered at the Recreation and Wellness Center and received their Healthy Tigers wellness screenings. Representatives from Human Resources also touted Tiger Perks, a new program that lists many of the discounts which are available to University employees. More information on the program can be found at

The Benefits Fair is held every November in conjunction with Open Enrollment Month. Open Enrollment for 2017 benefits continues until Nov. 30, at 4:45 p.m. During this time, university employees may enroll in, cancel or make changes to their benefits elections. IRS regulations do not allow for Plan enrollment beyond Nov. 30, unless there is a qualifying event during the year.

For employees who are currently enrolled in health, dental, vision and cancer insurance and who do not want to make any changes to their coverages, nothing needs to be done to continue these benefits.  No action on their part will be deemed to represent their wish for their elections to carry over into 2017. However, if they are currently enrolled in the Flexible Spending Account, they must re-enroll or their FSA contributions will end as of Dec. 31.
