The College of Liberal Arts will host a lecture featuring Tim Dodge on Tuesday, Sept. 20 from 3:30-4:45 p.m. in Caroline Marshall Draughon Auditorium on the ground floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon library.

Dodge will explore the phenomenon of African American rhythm and blues recordings heavily influenced by West Indian calypso circa 1945-1965, revealing the connections between the West Indian immigrant community and the broader African American community. He will also discuss the importance and legacy of this two-decade embrace of calypso by rhythm and blues artists.

Refreshments and a discussion will follow the presentation.
