Undergraduate research has been recognized as one of the top five engagement practices for student learning. To maximize the mutual benefits of the experience for both students and mentors, this workshop will explore strategies for effective mentoring and will offer ways to deal with the challenges faced by both the student and the mentor. Presenting at the workshop are Lorraine Wolf, director of Undergraduate Research, and Provost Mentor Award recipients Elizabeth Lipke, professor in the Department Chemical Engineering, and Leonardo De La Fuente, professor in the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology. The workshop will be held in 246 Foy Hall from noon-1:15 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring a device such as a web-enabled phone, tablet or laptop to the seminar.

As a result of participating in the workshop, participants will be able to articulate best practices for undergraduate research mentoring; create actionable plans for implementing undergraduate research projects; and be aware of resources for supporting undergraduate research at Auburn University.
