Eminent Scholar Paula Backscheider, from the Department of English in the College of Liberal Arts, was recently interviewed for an article published by National Geographic. Her expertise on Daniel Defoe was integral in debunking the myth that Alexander Selkirk, someone Defoe knew personally, was the “real” Robinson Crusoe.
