In the 19th Century, it was common for families to have volumes of Shakespeare in their homes. Public figures routinely quoted Shakespeare. James Shapiro, one of the world's most noted Shakespeare scholars, will deliver the lecture, "Shakespeare in America" in 113A Lowder Hall at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30. Professor Shapiro's works on Shakespeare have received wide notice and many awards. He is a gifted speaker as well as a gifted scholar.
