A history class at Auburn High School is looking to interview area veterans who served in the First Gulf War and/or the War on Terror.

Since 2013, AP history teacher Blake Busbin has been leading his students in the collection of oral histories from our nation’s service men and women. More than 150 stories, from veterans of World War II to current engagements, have been recorded so far and donated to the Library of Congress Veterans History Project.

In spring 2016, students from the Auburn University School of Nursing joined the effort, talking to Vietnam War veterans about any combat-related or post-war health concerns. Nursing students will again help this fall when Busbin’s class interviews Gulf War and War on Terror veterans.

Veterans interested in participating in the interviews should contact Busbin at 887-4970 or wbbusbin@auburnschools.org. Interviews will be conducted at Auburn High School, 405 South Dean Road, on Sept. 15-16, at 8 and 9:45 a.m., and 12 and 1:45 p.m.
