Jan Kavookjian, associate professor in the Harrison School of Pharmacy's Department of Health Outcomes Research and Policy, has been selected to serve as the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, or AACP, representative for pharmacy education in an interdisciplinary initiative.

In this position, Kavookjian will help develop health professions curricular content for teaching health professions students how to initiate conversations with patients about the prevention and treatment of obesity. Selected by AACP Executive Vice President and CEO Lucinda Maine, Kavookjian will be a part of a joint endeavor of the Obesity Solutions division of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, the American College of Sports Medicine, the Alliance for a Healthier Generation and the Bipartisan Policy Center. The interdisciplinary panel she will join is funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and will bring experts in behavior sciences, provider training and education together twice a year during the two-year appointment to develop a consensus on interprofessional competencies for obesity prevention and management.
