Iulia Pittman, associate professor of German and linguistics in the College of Liberal Arts, will give a series of presentations titled “Bilingual Parenting in the United States” on Monday, April 25, at 3 p.m. at the Harris Center. A native of Romania, Pittman grew up speaking Hungarian and Romanian. She and her husband are raising their three children bilingually with English and Hungarian. She is the author of the journal article “Trilingual Code-Switching Between Two Transylvanians Living in North America” and editor and contributor to the volume “Raising Children Bilingually in the United States”. During her presentation, she will speak about bilingualism and bilingual parenting based on her personal experiences and research she has conducted on the topic.

Pittman will also give a presentation on Thursday, May 26, at 6 p.m. at the LaGrange Memorial Library in LaGrange, Georgia, and on Thursday, June 2, at 3:30 p.m. at the Auburn Public Library. For more information contact Iulia Pittman at
