Auburn University employees are challenged to bring walking shoes next week and turn a working lunch into a walking lunch. Auburn University will recognize Wednesday, April 27 as National Walk at Lunch Day on campus, sponsored by the Healthy Tigers team.

Walking is one of the easiest and most effective forms of exercise. This is the 10th annual National Walk at Lunch event, which is a nationwide effort created by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. Penny Williams, the Auburn University Blue Cross and Blue Shield representative, will be joining the walk.

This day is designed to encourage people of all ages, backgrounds and lifestyles to make walking a healthy habit.

The event includes a one mile walk (or modify as needed) around campus on one of the “Follow the Paws” routes. Aubie, Coach Bruce Pearl and Coach Chuck Person will be joining the walk.

The walk will begin on the Thach concourse in front of the Harrison School of Pharmacy on Wednesday, April 27 at noon.

Tiger Dining will have the Smooth and Groove smoothie truck open nearby before and after the walk.

Door prizes will be given away after the walk is finished. In case of inclement weather, the walk will be held on Friday, April 29 at the same time and location.
