Notice body

The Battle of Mobile Bay, the most significant battle in the state of Alabama during the Civil War, will be examined at a brown bag lunch and learn session sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Auburn University, or OLLI at Auburn.

The luncheon will be on March 30 from noon-1 p.m. at the Clarion Inn, 1577 South College St. There is no admission fee, and non-OLLI members are invited.

Alan Hinds, a Mobile native and avid Civil War History buff, will discuss the battle, which closed the last Confederate seaport. Hinds recently moved to Auburn after living for 35 years in Indiana. He served as president of the Indianapolis Civil War Roundtable and has made presentations to a number of Civil War Roundtables and to other groups. He graduated from Auburn University in 1967 with a degree in business and holds an MBA degree from the University of South Florida.
