Biggio Center's first online Professional Development Seminar, or PDS, will take place March 8 at 2 p.m.

Participants will be encouraged to conduct a strategic review of their overall course design. They will be reintroduced to the purpose of curriculum mapping and how it can assist them in their plan for scholarly teaching. Participants will become more efficient in identifying the “big ideas” of their course and how to systematically align those with any required standards. They will also delve into rewriting effective and measurable student learning objectives or outcomes which will be used to guide both their formative and summative assessment methods. These critical components will serve as the driving factors in rethinking content, resources, what active learning strategies/activities and technologies should be incorporated into their courses, which leads to improved student achievement.
