Aaron Trehub, assistant dean for technology, has been named the new head of Auburn University Libraries’ Special Collections and Archives Department. Trehub has been with Auburn Libraries since 2004. He came to Auburn from the University Library of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he managed two fee-based Web resources and rose to the rank of associate professor of library administration. Trehub has been involved in a number of statewide, regional and international initiatives, including AlabamaMosaic, the Alabama Digital Preservation Network, the ASERL Civil War in the American South Web portal and the Aligning National Approaches to Digital Preservation conference series. Trehub has also published on information technology and the humanities, the economics of digital preservation and southern history. He is especially interested in applying new technologies to archival processing and supporting digital scholarship at Auburn. Originally trained as a Russian specialist, Trehub has degrees from McGill University, the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
