Women’s Initiatives and the Women in Science and Engineering Institute are sponsoring an event with Virginia Valian, author of “Why so Slow? The Advancement of Women.” Valian, a distinguished professor of psychology at Hunter College and co-founder of Hunter’s Gender Equality Project, will provide a critical analysis of gender schemas in the professions and academia and proposes remedies for individuals and institutions. Her presentation followed by an interactive discussion will take place on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. in 239 Broun Hall. This event is free and open to the public.
