The subject of this week's Take 5 on the university's homepage is Alaundra Shealey, a senior in Apparel Merchandising, Design and Production Management in the College of Human Sciences. Shealey is the Auburn student behind the design of the first #AUshirt. Her design – depicting an oak tree with War Eagle cascading across it in toilet paper – was named the winner of the inaugural Student Design League in November. The winning T-shirt is available at online, where $5 for every shirt sold goes to fund study abroad scholarships for Auburn's fashion students. As the winner, Shealey will get to intern at Robin Ruth's New York headquarters this summer. Robin Ruth, the leading fashion brand for travelers worldwide, developed and sponsored the Student Design League as a partnership with Auburn's Department of Consumer and Design Sciences. Shealey is an Opelika native and graduate of Auburn High School. She is set to graduate from Auburn in August. Shealey is currently participating with three other Auburn design students in the Fashion Fusion Face Off. [Read more]
