The City of Auburn Public Safety Department is currently accepting applications for the 2016 Citizens’ Public Safety Academy. This free program is offered to Auburn residents age 18 and older. Hear from the City's Public Safety officials, participate in hands-on events including firearms training from Auburn Police Division, CPR training from Auburn Fire Division, a mock crime scene and more. The program, scheduled to begin March 3, is designed to educate citizens on the role of public safety in the community. Participants will meet on Thursdays from 6–8:30 p.m., with two Saturday sessions in the 9-week program. Auburn University students and employees are encouraged to participate, regardless of being an actual Auburn resident, as they are an active daily part of the Auburn community.
