The Women's Studies Program in the College of Liberal Arts is hosting a public lecture on Thursday, Jan. 28, in 2370 Haley Center, from 5–7 p.m. Jason Orne will speak on “'Take Back Boystown': Racism in Gay Communities and the Whitening of Gay Identity." Orne, holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is currently with Qualitative Health Research Consultants, LLC. He is the author of “Boystown,” in press with University of Chicago Press for publication in fall 2016. Refreshments will be served at the lecture.

Orne will also be doing a brown bag presentation the following day, Jan. 29, in Tichenor 310 at 11:15 a.m. His talk then will be "Enactive Ethnography: Learning through Doing in Precarious Situations." Pizza and soft drinks will be served at the brown bag.

Orne's visit is co-sponsored by the Women's Studies Program, the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology and the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work.

Both events are free and open to all.
