The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Auburn University, or OLLI at Auburn, is a membership program for people 50 and older. The new OLLI term begins Jan. 25, but the catalog of course offerings is available now online and in print so you can select and register for the courses you want to take in a lineup of topics ranging from the History of the High Middle Ages to Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis and printmaking to cooking. The perennially favorite courses in Writing Our Lives and Tell Me a Story are also on the schedule. The complete winter course catalog can be found onlinePrinted catalogs are available at the Auburn and Opelika chambers of commerce, Auburn and Opelika public libraries, Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Arts, Opelika SportsPlex, HealthPlus Fitness Center, Momma Mocha, Toomers Coffee, Blooming Colors, Clarion Inn and Suites and the Ralph B. Draughon Library at Auburn University.

OLLI will kick off the new term with a general membership meeting at 10 a.m. Jan.13, at the Clarion Inn and Suites located at 1577 South College St. in Auburn. An OLLI Information Fair will be held from 8:45-9:45 a.m., with area organizations providing information of interest to OLLI members. The information fair and meeting are open to the public. General membership in OLLI is $25 for the year (Sept. 1—Aug. 31), which entitles members to participate in social events and other OLLI activities. Academic membership, which costs an additional $115 for the winter term, is necessary to take the non-credit academic classes.

OLLI membership offers many additional benefits, such as full Auburn University Library privileges, an opportunity to audit Auburn University credit courses, use of the Tiger Transit System, discounted membership in the Auburn Alumni Association and a discount at the AU Bookstore.

Also on the spring schedule are three Brown Bag Lunch and Learn sessions featuring a discussion of U.S.-Cuba relations, African Americans in Wartime, and a recital of stories from the Tell Me a Story students.
