Cuban soil scientist Muñiz Ugarte will present the lecture "Soil Science in Cuba: Current Status and Challenges" Thursday, Nov. 19, as part of the College of Agriculture's E.T. York Distinguished Lecturer Series. The lecture, set for 4 p.m. in the Sciences Center Auditorium, is free and open to all. Ugarte is a senior scientist with the Cuban Ministry of Agriculture's Soil Institute in Havana and a senior member of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba. His exceptional accomplishments in soil science over his 40-year career have earned him lifetime achievement awards from the Cuban State and from three international soil associations.
