The Biggio Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning is sponsoring a seminar on, “Open Access: Removing Barriers to Scholarship and Teaching” on Tuesday, Nov. 10 from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. in Foy Hall room 246. Rising costs of journals and textbooks inhibit researchers’ access to scholarship and students’ access to learning materials. During the seminar, panelists will introduce Open Access and Open Educational Resources as cost-effective responses that can remove barriers to high-quality information. Participants will consider the benefits of each and how to maximize their use in research and teaching. Several faculty and students, including Nick Giordano, will share their positive experiences with these resources. Pre-registration is requested online. Snacks will be provided. For questions, call the Biggio Center at 844.8530 or email
