Notice body

Auburn University employees should note several important changes regarding health insurance and other benefits for 2016. Auburn University Human Resources urges employees and their eligible dependents to review the benefits information envelope they received before selecting their 2016 benefits. Open enrollment for benefits began on Sunday, Nov. 1, and continues until Monday, Nov. 30, at 4:45 p.m.

Due to increased costs for medical and prescription services, premiums for the Auburn University health insurance plan will increase by 2 percent next year. Co-pays for physician services and some prescriptions will also increase, though rates remain competitive and even less expensive than similar plans. These changes are needed to ensure that the Auburn University health plan remains sustainable and continues to provide quality medical and pharmaceutical coverage.

Auburn's health plan will now cover certain preventive routine office visits for employees and their eligible dependents with no co-pays. Visit BlueCross BlueShield of Alabama’s website for more information about what will be covered. There will be no premium increases for dental, vision and cancer insurance plans for 2016. The amount that can be placed into an FSA Medical Spending Account will increase from $2,500 to $2,550.
