On Wednesday, Dec. 2, Human Resource Development, in conjunction with the Office of Risk Management, will offer, “Principles of University Contracting and Risk Transfer.” This class will expose participants to the fundamental principles behind contract formation, with particular emphasis on how Auburn University’s status as a government entity influences many of the contract’s important terms. Participants will learn the value of using contracts to transfer risk of loss away from the university, and will recognize how to mitigate remaining risk by conforming to appropriate third party insurance requirements. Upon completion, participants will be better prepared to act as facilitators in the contracting process and will understand the boundaries of authority dictated by Auburn University’s Signature Authority Policy. This two-hour program will be held at the HRD Training Facility located at 1550 E. Glenn Ave, and will last from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. The course is presented by Courtney Raville, Procurement Contract Officer, and Melissa Agresta, University Risk Manager. To register, go to “Fast-Train Registration” under the “Employee Services” tab in AU Access. The course code is “MR550.” For questions concerning registration, contact Mary Elizabeth Fukai at mhf0005@auburn.edu, or Penny Houston at pdh0007@auburn.edu
