The Auburn University Bookstore was awarded the excellence in course materials management award at the 2015 Conference for Independent College Bookstores. The award considers not only financial growth but innovation and strategy as course materials evolved. During the five year period, the Bookstore moved to a low/no-profit structure that saved students on average more than $950,000 per year on textbooks. Initiatives included the Bookstore's rental program and sourcing lower cost books from online resources for re-sale to students. During this period, the Bookstore was one of two stores nationally that showed a growth in course materials, which was largely due to the focus on student affordability.
