Auburn University graduate student Gifty Acquah was awarded for her superior presentation at Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society’s Student Research Conference. Sigma Xi is the international honor society for scientists and engineers.

Acquah’s presentation was ranked the highest by judges for Agricultural, Soil and Natural Resources/Environmental Sciences/Geosciences research in the graduate student division. Her research was titled, “Rapid Assessment of Disease Tolerant Pinus taeda Families for Strength, Chemical and Bioenergy Applications Using Near Infrared Spectroscopy.” The project was co-authored by Lori Eckhardt, Oladiran Fasina and Nedret Billor, and advised by Brian Via, all of Auburn University.
