Dr. Doug Hankes, Director of Student Counseling Services in the Division of Student Affairs, has been named a Fellow of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, or AASP, an international professional organization that promotes the field of sport and exercise psychology. Hankes is a licensed psychologist, an AASP Certified Consultant and is listed on the 2012-2016 United States Olympic Committee’s Sport Psychology Registry. For the past 10 years, he has also served as the Auburn University Athletic Department’s applied sport psychology consultant.

The Fellow honor is given to AASP members who have made significant contributions to academic and professional practice knowledge in sport and exercise psychology. Hankes will be inducted at the annual conference in Indianapolis in October, where members from around the world convene to share the latest research and presentations in the field. The AASP promotes the ethical practice, science, and advocacy of sport and exercise psychology.
