The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Auburn University, or OLLI at Auburn, is taking a field trip for its fall open house. OLLI members and prospective members will meet Thursday, Aug. 27, at the Museum of East Alabama to tour the museum, learn more about fall academic courses and social events and learn about the other benefits of OLLI membership.

The museum, located at 121 Ninth St. in Opelika, serves Lee, Macon, Russell, Chambers and Tallapoosa counties by interpreting, exhibiting and housing historical items and memorabilia.

The open house will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is open to OLLI members and prospective members. OLLI membership chair Eleanor Parker, who is also an active volunteer for the Museum of East Alabama, will provide a brief talk about the museum, its history and its exhibits.

Light refreshments will be served. There is no admission charge. The open house is hosted by the OLLI Membership Committee, OLLI Social Committee and the volunteers of the Museum of East Alabama.

OLLI’s fall term classes begin the week of Sept. 28. For details, visit the OLLI website or call Linda Shook, OLLI director, at 844-3105.
