Kyle Kostelecky has been named Alabama Extension’s new assistant director for family and consumer sciences programs. He will also serve as assistant dean for Extension in Auburn University’s College of Human Sciences. Kostelecky comes to Alabama Extension from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he most recently served as the project director for Extension’s Military Families Learning Network and director of the Chez Family Foundation Center for Wounded Veterans in Higher Education. He earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology from Washington State University and his master’s and doctorate in human development and family studies from Iowa State University.

Kostelecky has held faculty positions at the University of Arizona South Sierra Vista, University of Northern Iowa, University of Wyoming, and Iowa State University where he was a state specialist responsible for intergenerational programming.
