Located alongside the Tennessee River, Muscle Shoals, Alabama, is the unlikely breeding ground for some of America’s most creative and defiant music. At the heart of the scene is Rick Hall, who founded FAME Studios and is credited for creating the "Muscle Shoals sound." Gregg Allman, Bono, Clarence Carter, Mick Jagger, Etta James, Alicia Keys, Keith Richards, Percy Sledge and others bear witness to Muscle Shoals’ magnetism, mystery and why it remains influential today in this documentary series. There will be two screenings at Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art: one on Thursday, May 28, at 4 p.m. and one on Sunday, May 31, at 2 p.m. The screenings are a joint partnership between OLLI at Auburn and the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art. Auditorium seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Admission is free. Advance ticket reservations are encouraged online. Following the Thursday screening, there is a live music performance and cafe tapas menu available until 8 p.m.
