The Auburn/Opelika Parkinson’s Disease Support Group has an upcoming meeting scheduled for Sunday, March 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Eagle’s Nest Meeting Room in the back left side of Monarch Estates, located at 1550 East University Drive in Auburn. The speaker will be Jill M. Meyer, assistant professor in special education, rehabilitation counseling at Auburn University. Her topic will be “Coping and Adaptation to Chronic Conditions: Parkinson’s Disease.”

Meyer earned her doctoral degree in counselor education and supervision (2011) from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and completed her Master’s in rehabilitation counseling (1996) at the University of Illinois- Champaign. She has a wealth of experience in rehabilitation services and federal grants and research. Her research interests include: adaptation, psychological well-being and coping, in addition to general research methodology and instrumentation. Her research and clinical skills intersect through publications and work with individuals with chronic conditions. Those with Parkinson’s, their caregivers, family members and friends are invited to attend.
