Auburn University will welcome 4,000 eighth-graders to campus Feb. 17-18 when the East Alabama Workforce Investment Network, or EAWIN, holds its Career Discovery Expo in Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum.

Representatives from regional industries and businesses will introduce students from Bullock, Chambers, Lee, Macon and Russell counties to 11 career clusters, including agriculture; architecture and construction; communication and information technology; education and training; hospitality and tourism; manufacturing; automotive manufacturing; healthcare; public service; transportation, distribution and logistics; and energy and utilities.

As an expo partner, Auburn University will have many of its colleges showcased within the industry clusters. The expo will also have representatives from Chattahoochee Valley Community College, Southern Union State Community College, Trenholm State Technical College, Troy University-Phenix City, Tuskegee University and Point University.

An open house will be held Feb. 17 from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. for anyone wanting to learn more about local industries and businesses.

EAWIN is a non-profit workforce development organization that serves as a point of contact for business, industry and the public sector to identify solutions that address the workforce needs of the region.
