Auburn Multicultural Center, Community & Civic Engagement in the College of Liberal Arts, and African Studies will host professor, author and cultural critic Marc Lamont Hill to kick off Black History Month for Auburn University on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 5:30 p.m., in the AU Student Center Ballroom.

Hill, Distinguished Professor of African American Studies at Morehouse College, will discuss "Building Community in an Hour of Chaos: Progress in the Age of Obama." As a professor, author and cultural critic, he will offer a critical analysis of current social and political moment by identifying key issues, challenges, controversies and trends that have emerged or lingered during the “Obama era.” Hill will provide critique and concrete solutions, as well as areas of hope and possibly for healing our national, local and university communities.
