Pat Rynders has been appointed university veterinarian and director of Laboratory Animal Health in the Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development. She has been the interim university veterinarian for more than two years, in addition to her job as the director of Laboratory Animal Health in the College of Veterinary Medicine. As the university veterinarian, she will provide institutional level guidance and oversight which is consistent with federal, state and local laws and regulations related to university veterinary care, animal facilities and animal welfare for Auburn University’s Animal Care and Use Program, and provide leadership for the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care accreditation for relevant colleges. As the director of Laboratory Animal Health, she will continue to be responsible for supervision, coordination and oversight of that division within the College of Veterinary Medicine. “Pat has been doing an excellent job in both areas, and we are glad to have her join the administrative structure in this new capacity,” said John Mason and John Liu of the Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development, in a joint statement.
