The Auburn Plainsman was recently awarded a national Pacemaker Award during the Associated Collegiate Press/College Media Association's National College Media Convention in Philadelphia. The Plainsman was recognized as one of the best four-year non-daily collegiate newspapers for the 2013-14 year. The award, presented annually by the ACP/CMA, is considered the equivalent to the collegiate Pulitzer Prize and is the highest honor in student journalism. This is the 25th Pacemaker Award won by The Plainsman, the most recent being 2012 and again in 2005. Kelsey Davis, 2013-14 editor-in-chief, was also named an honorable mention in the Best Editorial category for her editorial "The right to an unfair and speedy trial."
