The doctoral program in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies in Auburn’s College of Human Sciences is ranked third overall among comparable programs at U.S. and Canadian universities. Rankings, based on a 2014 survey conducted by a professor at Ohio State, are believed to be the first publicly available for HDFS programs. Auburn shares its ranking with Arizona State and Cornell. Additionally, the survey classified Auburn as second in family science programs, fourth in child development programs and fifth in adolescent development and emerging adulthood programs.
