The Office of the Vice President for University Outreach announces the 2014-2015 call for proposals for the Competitive Outreach Scholarship Grants Program or COSG. The COSG program is intramural and made available to promote faculty engagement in outreach enterprise. The purpose of the grants is to encourage faculty initiative in addressing critical needs in the state of Alabama and beyond. Auburn University strategic plan priority 4 articulates a goal and commitments the university has for increasing public engagement as a land-grant without borders. This grant program builds upon the experience of previous Outreach Scholarship grants, promotes the university strategic 4 objective of enhancing public engagement and promotes outreach, extension activity and engaged scholarship described in Chapter 3 of the Faculty Handbook.

A Competitive Outreach Scholarship Grant is awarded to promote and establish sustainable outreach initiatives with the potential to garner extramural support for public engagement. Grants will range in value up to $25,000 for one year, with the possibility of renewal. Only full-time tenured, tenure-track or clinical faculty members, whose departments consider scholarly productivity in the conferment of promotion, are eligible to apply. Support for funded projects may begin as early as January/February 2015.

Proposals for 2014-15 Competitive Outreach Scholarship Grants can be found here and are due by Nov. 10, at 4:45 p.m. The proposals will undergo a thorough review by the Competitive Outreach Scholarship Grant review committee.
