The Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts will host a workshop titled “Modeling the Mind and the Milieu: Computational Modeling for Organizational Psychologists,” featuring Jeffrey Vancouver, professor of psychology at Ohio University, on Friday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  in Lowder Business Building in room 009. Vancouver will present a tutorial on building computational models of psychological phenomena using the popular and free system dynamics modeling platform, VensimPLE. To maximize learning, participants will build a model of job attitudes and work stress. They will also conduct sensitivity analysis and be given a tutorial on further forms of model testing that combine empirical work with modeling. Individual attendees should bring laptops or have access to a computer with VensimPLE, which is downloadable for free from this website. The workshop including lunch is $50 for Auburn management faculty; and $100 for other Auburn faculty members and those outside Auburn. Psychology and management graduate students may attend the workshop for free, but lunch is $10. The cost for other graduate students is $30, including lunch. To register, visit this website.
