The Ornamental Horticulture Research Center will hold its Field Day program on Tuesday, Sept. 23 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The program will feature presentations and tours of the research center followed by a lunch provided for all attendees. Topics covered during presentations and tours will include hydroponics, multi-state no-spray rose evaluation and pre-emergent herbicide control in container production. Attendees will also learn the new diseases and insect pests of concern to the container nursery industry, and new herbicides for container production and a pesticide safety update. The field day program is open to all, and any commercial nursery, greenhouse or landscape professionals are encouraged to attend. The event is free, and no preregistration is required. However, if you do plan to attend, you are encouraged to call anytime before the event to aid in planning. The Ornamental Horticulture Research Center is located at 411 North McGregor Ave., Mobile, Alabama.
