A Send Silence Packing event meant to raise awareness of suicide will take place on Auburn’s Campus Green from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26.

Auburn students, faculty and staff are advised to be aware the event includes the display of more than 1,000 backpacks and could lead some to recall challenging or adverse events in their lives, unintentionally provoking complicated emotionality and/or psychological distress.

Individuals who believe they may be provoked by the display are advised to avoid the Campus Green during the event time.

Student Counseling and Psychological Services, or SCPS, will have clinicians available at the event, by phone (334-844-5123) and for drop-in consultations at both locations (basement of Haley Center, second floor of Medical Clinic Building) should anyone desire to speak to someone based on their reactions to the display. The SCPS phone consultation service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 334-844-5123.
