Employees invited to attend professional writing workshops Oct. 26 and Nov. 10

University Writing has partnered with Human Resource Development to offer two workshops related to professional writing. Registration is free and open to all full-time and Temporary Employment Services, or TES, employees. Space is limited, so register in advance via Fast-Train on AU Access. Both workshops will be delivered via Zoom.

Oct. 26, 2:00 p.m.

Writing Effective Emails: This workshop will focus on writing effective professional emails with attention to the audience and purpose of an academic institution. Participants will discuss best practices, consider specific email scenarios, practice revising email samples to be more effective and ask questions related to their own use of email in the workplace.

Nov. 10, 9:00 a.m.:

Emails for Challenging Scenarios: This workshop will offer strategies and best practices for communicating via email, including guidance on how to address common challenges. Discussion topics will include responding to difficult messages, balancing friendliness with concision, and editing for clarity. Participants will consider specific email scenarios, practice revising and writing emails and raise questions related to their own professional context.
