As Auburn University continues to think about the work that is done to welcome all populations at the institution, we aspire to create a vibrant community that promotes caring and inclusiveness, respects individuality and values the unique contributions each of the members of the Auburn Family brings. This past year, there has been an initiative comprised of individuals from across campus who have used the Campus Pride Index (a LGBTQ+ national benchmarking tool designed for colleges and universities to create a safer, stronger, healthier and more equitable community) to think about improving policies and practices for LGBTQ+ individuals at Auburn University.

The CPI Initiative Committee has been working on ways to create this environment for all faculty, staff and students on Auburn’s campus. To move forward with the initiative, we would like to invite you to take part in a 60–90-minute focus group (small discussion group) about LGBTQ+ issues and concerns on Auburn University campus. In particular, we would like to know:

1. What changes do you feel the university needs to make to increase inclusivity on campus?

2. Where should we begin to educate students, faculty, staff and administration about LGBTQ+ initiatives?

Participation will be kept anonymous, and every person will have to sign a waiver expressing confidentiality. Your participation in this focus group is entirely voluntary and your responses will never be released in a way that could reveal your identity.

More information will be sent to those confirming their interest in participating in a focus group. Your views will be used to help us navigate how LGBTQ+ initiatives should be prioritized at the university. If you would like to take part in a focus group, please complete the information form by Feb. 19, 2021, at https://aub.ie/CPIfocusgroup. For questions, please contact campuspride@auburn.edu.
