The Office of Information Technology previously announced an upcoming change to external email notifications scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 9. In order to simplify the impact on faculty and staff during the week they return to campus, they have decided to postpone that change by one week. The change will now take place effective Tuesday, Feb. 16.

As a reminder, this change means that any email that you receive from a non-Auburn domain (any email address that does not end in @auburn.edu) will have two markers indicating that it is from an external source. The first is that the subject line will start with [EXT] to mark it as external. The second is that the top of the message body will include a highlighted statement saying. “CAUTION: This email originated from outside of Auburn University.” We are doing this as an added security measure to help cut down on phishing scams. There will be no changes to how you receive these messages; it is simply a notification.
