Upcoming change to external email notifications

Article body

Effective Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021, any email that you receive from a non-Auburn domain (any email address that does not end in @auburn.edu) will have two markers indicating that it is from an external source. The first is that the subject line will start with [EXT] to mark it as external. The second is that the top of the message body will include a highlighted statement saying, “CAUTION: This email originated from outside of Auburn University. Do not click links or open attachments unless you know the content is safe.”  This as an added security measure to help cut down on phishing scams. There will be no changes to how you receive these messages; it is simply a notification.
