Mittal awarded distinguished leadership award

Jay Mittal, associate professor in the Master of Community Planning, or MCP, program in the Department of Political Science, was awarded the 2020 Kenneth J. Groves Jr. Distinguished Leadership Award for a Professional Planner at the annual conference of the Alabama Chapter of the American Planning Association.

This award is given to an accomplished planner for their significant and sustained contributions to the planning profession. Mittal was recognized for his resiliency and dedication to planning by sedulously defending and strengthening the MCP program. Throughout his career, Mittal has displayed a high degree of professional commitment to advancing the planning field in Alabama and serving as a dedicated educator, researcher and leader.
