Auburn Army ROTC cadets will commission as second lieutenants in the United States Army at 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11, at the Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center.

Army officers are commissioned under the authority of the President of the United States and are granted legal authority with unique responsibilities as leaders in the United States Army. The ROTC cadets will recite the solemn Oath of Office, thereby affirming their support for the Constitution and marking their official transition from cadets to Army officers. The cadets have worked for four years filling the roles of both students and officer trainees. They have managed their demanding academic coursework to earn their respective degrees while meeting the rigorous ROTC commissioning requirements to serve as leaders in our armed forces.

The Army ROTC department will hold the commissioning ceremony before a limited live audience of friends and family at the Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center, featuring guest speaker Brigadier General David M. Hodne, Chief of the Infantry branch. The ceremony will also be live-streamed on the Auburn Army ROTC YouTube channel. The Auburn community is welcome to join us virtually as our cadets recite the oath, pin their new rank insignia and celebrate this tremendous milestone in their professional military careers.
