The College of Sciences and Mathematics Office of Inclusion, Equity and Diversity, or COSAM OIED, and the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering Academic Excellence Program, or AEP, are welcoming first-year STEM Summer Bridge students to Auburn with an outdoor, socially distant event held in the Donald E. Davis Arboretum. On Aug. 21, COSAM OIED and AEP are helping these new students integrate into the Auburn Family through this community building event, which will include welcoming addresses from Kimberly X. Mulligan, assistant dean of Inclusion, Equity and Diversity and Cordelia Brown, director of the Engineering Academic Excellence Program. There will be time for mingling and a boxed dinner for the students to eat at home.

Since 1997, STEM Summer Bridge has been a four-week residential program designed to support the transition of incoming students enrolled in COSAM and engineering majors to college life. However, considering safety precautions related to COVID-19, this year’s STEM Summer Bridge program was exclusively held online for the first time. As such, COSAM OIED and AEP highlight the importance of building strong community while simultaneously valuing the health and safety of students.
